16 Days of Activism Press Statement-2023[KAMPALA, 25-11-2023] – WPI, a feminist non-profit organization with a reputation of boldly advancing equity, challenging discrimination and violence against women and girls, is proud to announce its participation in the global campaign, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This year’s theme, “Unite! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls,” highlights the urgent need for collective action and investment to eradicate violence against women and girls.

Violence against women and girls is a grave violation of human rights, affecting men and women. It is a deeply rooted issue that transcends all ethnicities, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. To combat this pervasive problem, it is crucial for the Ugandan government, organizations, and individuals to come together and invest in comprehensive strategies that prevent violence, support survivors, and promote gender equality.

During the 16 Days of Activism, the WPI will be at the forefront of this global movement, raising awareness, fostering dialogue, and advocating for change. Through a series of media engagements, workshops, and campaigns, we aim to engage communities, policymakers, and stakeholders in meaningful discussions and actions that address the root causes of violence against women and girls.

Our organization believes that prevention is key to ending violence. By investing in education, awareness programs, and the empowerment of women and girls, we can create a society that rejects violence and promotes equality. We call upon our government, corporate bodies, and individuals to allocate resources, both financial and human, to support initiatives that prevent violence, provide support to survivors, and challenge harmful gender norms. Together, we can build a future where women and girls can live without fear, where their voices are heard, and where gender-based violence is no longer tolerated.

Join us in this crucial fight against violence against women and girls. Together, let us unite, invest, and create lasting change.
